Nothing impacts the individual or family as much as disordered eating can. From simple dieting that has gone out of control to full blown eating disorders such as binge eating disorder, anorexia and bulimia it is crucial that you get the right support and information from reliable sources.
There are many different types of eating disorders in the spectrum of the disorder. My clients come to me for one of the following reasons:
-
often after attempting a crash diet or restricting particular food groups until they have completely lost control.
-
they have decided to “clean” their diet and find they can no longer enjoy eating with friends or family or in their favorite restaurant.
-
they have developed an intense fear of gaining weight or being fat.
-
Others have gone from complimenting their new weight to expressing fear for the health of their friend or loved one
-
They find themselves obsessing about food, calories and their weight to the point there is no room for their normal life
Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder are complicated mental health diseases that manifest through the use and manipulation of foods. Both come with dire consequence if not treated with an experienced treatment team. The team should include a medical doctor that understands eating disorders, a mental health therapist or psychologist, and a registered dietitian certified in eating disorders.
Sessions with me include meal planning, body image work, and are dependent on the severity of the disorder, the duration of the disorder and the age of the person suffering. Rec0very is possible with the right team. It is not about food yet it is completely about food. I work with a treatment team approach and can help you find a good therapist if you do not have one.
